Mary of the Day (July 22, 1796) – MADONNA AVVOCATA NOSTRA, VICOVARO, ROME, ITALY
July 22, 1796: Beginning of the prodigious movement of the eyes of Our Lady Advocate. The beautiful image of the Virgin in prayer, the work of the painter Giacomo Triga, who due to poverty had brought to the Monte di Pietà, was redeemed by the feudal lords of Vicovaro in 1738 and placed in a marvelous Renaissance temple, the work of Mastro Simeone, a disciple of Brunelleschi. Our Lady also repeatedly moved her eyes in front of large crowds of devotees, in the years 1798, 1863, 1931, and lately in the Marian year 1954.
